Iron Lynx kicks off ADAC Formula 4 campaign with Maya Weug at Spa-Francorchamps

Today, Italian racing team, Iron Lynx, concluded its opening weekend of single-seater racing with ADAC Formula 4 campaign at the Spa-Francorchamps Circuit with Ferrari Driver Academy driver and Iron Dame, Maya Weug.

In what was a challenging race weekend, Maya gained valuable knowledge in Friday’s practice and qualifying sessions. And even when falling back off the line for race one, the Iron Dame was able to regain positions through the thirty-minute race in what was a confidence boosting performance after difficult opening laps to finish in sixteenth place.

Coming into race two, there was early contact at turn five that hampered Maya’s performance, unfortunately ending her race prematurely and compounding the problem with a back-row start for race three.

The final race on Sunday morning, Maya Weug looked to end the event on a high and take a positive away from the weekend. Ultimately, the Iron Dame showed determination in gaining two places and taking the chequered flag as the team look forward to Hockenheim in three weeks’ time.

Team Manager, Niki Cadei, said:

“Although it wasn’t an easy weekend for the team and Maya, it was an important learning experience with the new car and tyres for this season. Moving forward, we have a lot of work to do, and we believe the team and Maya can come back stronger.

“Overall, the team must stay positive as we look to make steps forward for the rest of the Formula 4 season.”

Iron Dame, Maya Weug, said:

“The first week of the season has been a difficult one for me and the team. Starting from the back after a tough qualifying and contact in the first two races really put us on the back foot.

“But the team and I kept learning and looked to improve through the weekend, and we managed to fight harder for race three on Sunday, managing to make some progress and keep pace with those around me.

“Overall, we must take what we’ve learnt and stay positive for the rest of the season.”

The ADAC Formula 4 season continues at Hockenheim on the 14th and 15th May, with the Italian Formula 4 championship kicking off at the Imola Circuit in two weeks’ time on 7th May.
