Iron Lynx takes solid points in Italian F4 after top-ten finishes in Austria

Today, Italian racing team, Iron Lynx concluded a weekend of consistent top-ten finishes as the Italian F4 Championship visited the Red Bull Ring in Austria.

The team ran three cars, with Ivan Domingues and Iron Dame, Maya Weug, returning for the fifth round. They were joined by Italian debutant Nicola Lacorte, marking his first racing appearance.

The Iron Lynx and Iron Dames drivers had to overcome mixed conditions all weekend, but all three qualified well and recorded strong results as they continue to develop.

Maya qualified an impressive fifth, the Ferrari Driver Academy driver finishing Race 2 in P7 and Race 3 in P8, before claiming P12 in Race 4 on Sunday afternoon.

Ivan took an eighth-place finish in Race 2 after being collected by another driver at the start of Race 1; the Portuguese driver continued to bounce back in Race 4, finishing the weekend in P16.

After showing good progress in testing this season, and in only his second car race meeting, Nicola qualified seventh, holding his own in a packed 40-car field to finish an excellent tenth in Race 1.

The Italian was involved in a tight battle all the way through Race 4 and came through to finish in the midfield following trouble at the start.

Iron Lynx Team Principal, Andrea Piccini said: “It’s been a positive weekend, the conditions have been changing continuously so it’s not been easy to find the rhythm.

“I have to say I was surprised with Nicola Lacorte’s first weekend, he had a very positive debut.

“His pace was very consistent, he made no mistakes and adapted very well to all conditions so we’re very happy with that. Maya showed very good speed in the wet as well and showed good progress in Race 3. It was a pity Ivan had a bit of contact in Race 1 which took him out.”

Iron Lynx and the Iron Dames retain fifth and sixth position in the Teams’ Standings respectively after this weekend’s positive results; they return to Italian F4 action at Monza from 7-9 October.
