Iron Lynx announces Formula 4 and karting program for 2022

Today, Italian motor racing team, Iron Lynx, has shown its continued support for the next generation of racing talent by revealing its driver program for the upcoming Italian F4 and ADAC F4 championships in 2022.

Coming back to the team for second year, Dutch Ferrari Driving Academy (FDA) racer and inaugural winner of the FIA Girls of Track – Rising Stars, Maya Weug, will be competing in a full-season Italian F4 entry as well as select ADAC F4 rounds, with rising star Ivan Domingues joining the team and making the move into single-seaters for 2022. The young Portuguese driver has impressed in the F4 UAE championship in recent months.

Another rising female star and fellow FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars competitor, Laura Camps Torras, will be joining the team after becoming just the second woman after Maya Weug to graduate to the Ferrari Driver Academy. The 16-year-old Spaniard will be taking up F4 testing for 2022.

14-year-old karting star, Nicola Lacorte will also be adding to Iron Lynx’s exciting line-up in 2022, with the young Italian taking up F4 testing duties and will be participating in the later rounds of the Italian F4 championship.

In addition to F4, Iron Lynx will be supporting its ‘Iron Generation’ talent in karting, with Matteo Pianezzola, taking up a full karting season, building on his strong performances from last year.

Team principal for Iron Lynx, Andrea Piccini, said:

“After the strong season we had last year in Formula 4, the Iron Lynx team are ready to make further steps forward with some promising young talent in 2022.

“Maya Weug will be returning for another year, and we believe she has the ability to improve her speed once more after a positive 2021 in Italian F4. We’re also happy to bring Ivan Domingues onboard; he achieved interesting results and showed good speed in F4 UAE championship last month and he will be a great asset to the team.

“We’re committed to bringing more young women into motorsport, with Laura Camps Torres joining us as test and development driver in Formula 4. It’s the perfect platform for her to become an even more complete racer.

“Nicola Lacorte will be joining us for the final rounds of the Italian F4 championship later in the year and we are pleased to play a part in his progress. Being just 14 years old, we think he has a bright future here at Iron Lynx.

“Our dedicated ‘Iron Generation’ of talent in karting is also continuing this season and we’re very much looking forward to Matteo Pianezzola building on his strong 2021 into the new year.”
