Double victory for Doriane Pin concludes successful racing weekend for Iron Lynx

Today, Italian racing team, Iron Lynx, has completed its racing weekend in Ferrari Challenge Europe and Italian F4 successfully, with Iron Dame Doriane Pin, taking two victories to extend her lead at the summit of the Ferrari Challenge Europe championship.

Racing at the Hungaroring in Budapest, Hungary, for the third round of this year’s Ferrari Challenge Europe, it was Doriane that scored two controlled victories. In the Am category Arno Dahlmeyer also achieved important points with fourth and sixth-place finishes in race one and two respectively.

In the opening race, Doriane had a masterpiece of a start, from her second place starting position she built a comfortable advantage taking a deserved win, showing her ever-growing maturity behind the wheel. In the Am category, Arno expertly avoided lap one drama to gain a place from his fifth starting position to finish in fourth and even fight for the podium in the closing stages.

On to race two, and Doriane’s expert start from pole position was the catalyst to what became an easily controlled race win for the 18-year-old. This was also her fourth win from six races this season. Following an amazing qualifying session finishing in second place, Arno was held up with early race incidents and traffic, but he still managed to put in a fighting performance and finish in sixth place, continuing to show more speed with every race weekend.

The Italian F4 Championship was racing at Spa-Francorchamps for the first time, and the pairing of Maya Weug and Ivan Domingues showed promising signs of progression throughout the weekend on the famous circuit, picking up yet more points across all three races.

In race one, Maya finished in thirteenth place with a battling performance, and Ivan gained six places in the rookie class to finish seventh. Race two continued to show pace for the team, with Iron Dame, Maya gaining six places from her grid position of sixteenth to finish tenth and in the points. Ivan had another impressive display, scoring more overall points in eighth, and sixth in the rookie class.

Race three proved to be a further demonstration of progression for Ivan, with the young racer again moving forward from his nineteenth starting spot to finish in twelfth overall and seventh in the rookie class to cap off a successful weekend. Maya finished in fifteenth place after yet another hard-fought midfield battle.

Iron Lynx’s Team Principal, Andrea Piccini, said:

“The team have performed very well across both Ferrari Challenge and Italian F4 championships this weekend, with Doriane driving masterfully like an experienced pilot in both races in Budapest, and Arno again showing great pace and continued improvement.

“Hungaroring is a difficult and technical track and considering she didn’t know the track where others have tested, Doriane learned very quickly and showed an impressive pace all weekend in Ferrari Challenge Europe. Her start in race one was perfect, showing great experience and race craft at such a young age. Arno also had a great race to avoid the early chaos to bring more valuable points.

“The second race was again another excellent performance from Doriane, maintaining the gap at the front and looking after the car to record another win. It’s strengthened her championship lead, and she seems very determined to keep up this pace. Arno quickly got familiar with the track and set an incredible time in the qualifying – only three tenths off pole position. But he was unlucky in the race with the turn one incident being hit by another car, but showed great resilience when back on track, so we’re happy with his races this weekend.

“At Spa for the F4 racing, Ivan and Maya both drove very well all weekend, bringing home some valuable points for the team in all three races, but we can be particularly proud of Ivan as he’s shown some strong pace all year and was finally able to score three great results and prove his consistency. Maya also drove very maturely at one of the most demanding and hardest circuits in this series. She made a very good improvement compared to her last performance in Spa with ADAC. She is making the right steps forward and will be back racing next weekend in the ADAC F4 in Zandvoort.”

The Italian F4 Championship continues at Vallelunga in Italy on July 2nd and 3rd, with the Ferrari Challenge Europe continuing at the Hockenheimring in Germany on July 23rd and 24th.
